Happy July!
It’s been a few months since my last post, and I thank you for continuing to be a subscriber. I needed some time to reassess my own business and revisit my original mission statement and care for my family and myself. I hope you are planning to find some time during these summer days to do the same.
It is no secret to those who know me well, that supporting our youth, and cultivating a better world for them to inherit, is one of my life’s passions. Doing my part to create a world where everyone has access to the knowledge and opportunity to access wealth, regardless of how they define it, I believe it is also my sacred appointment here on earth.
I also believe it is my life’s mission to educate and empower communities and those who support their communities and families as small business owners. It’s important, especially during these times to not only have the passion and drive to run a small business, but to also be financially intelligent. It is essential for everyone to understand how to build a solid foundation that will help them sustain and even thrive regardless of the political climate and decision of government.
“Almost every successful person begins with two beliefs: The future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so.” ~ David Brooks
We all want wealth in whatever way we choose to define it. We know that lessening stress and anxiety around money can help you sleep better at night. If worries about money or maintaining your business is bringing stress into your life, I urge you to seek help. Whoever wins the election this year will not save you. You have to start gathering the tools to save yourself. I believe that as a collective, we can make this world a safe space for everyone – but it begins with us.
At MT Austin and Associates, we’ve always provided you with resources and information that supports your financial health, and we will continue to do so.
What we will also do, as our commitment to empowering the community is to offer a series of live classes on personal money management, business finances 101, non profit finances and youth money, in our Restoration Station. During the summer months, these classes will be FREE. If you are interested in joining as a member, it is also FREE until September. I invite you to click below to join:
For those who are ready to dig deeper into the holistic work of unpacking your “money story” and limiting beliefs around money, conversations about low wealth and creating wealth, go over to the Wealth Activator site and subscribe. We are building a course now via email prompts and live video calls to do the inner work of starting to heal money trauma. This will also be FREE but only to those on our email list.
A FEW REMINDERS:
Culturally competent mental health care shouldn’t be a luxury; it should be the norm in our society. #ShadesofMentalHealth

- July is Disability Pride Month : Take a moment to read about the origin of #DisabilityPride month and learn about the achievements and struggles of the disability community. If you are the parent or caregiver of a disabled person, reach out for the help you need to support yourself as well – 24 hours of respite is better than none. If you notice that your favorite store or your office building or school is out of compliance, say something. One small thing you can do is to make sure your hashtags are capitalized so that the visually impaired can distinguish the beginning and ending of words.
- July is also Minority Mental Health Month : Suicide rates among Black youth are rising and one in three Black adults receive the mental health services they need. In addition to the stigma surrounding conversations about mental health in the Black and brown communities, there is a lack of resources. Personally, I know that my and many young people have been waiting for months to secure mental health services, and it makes life more stressful for caregivers. If you are in need of support, please visit the NAMI website, join community conversations, seek out support groups in your area or call the national 988 number for help until you can get one on one care. You can also show your support as a business owner by downloading their social media toolkit and sharing your story using the hashtags #BlackMentalHealthMatters or #ShadesofMentalHealth
- A lesser known campaign is this month’s Military Consumer Month. If you are a current or former military or live with military personnel, I invite you to check out the resources on the Federal Trade Commissions website on how to protect your finances from scammers.
Lastly, I wish you and your families a safe and fun Fourth of July!

Remember to be aware, be kind and take good care of yourself. Let’s do our part to make sure that this remains the home of the brave and free!
